Illustrated Film Posters

Commission and Personal Projects

Film has always been an inspiration to me, and I love the challenge of condensing an entire film into a single illustration.

Each poster here was created using my iPad Pro and Procreate and then brought into Illustrator for type and title treatments.

Silent Hill

Freelance commission, 2020

This poster was completed for alternate film poster company Cult Classic Prints. I wanted to showcase the two separate worlds that inhabit the town of Silent Hill. I executed this in both the design and the colors used by creating an actual diagonal divide and using deep reds and oranges that contrast with the dark blues and grays.

For the title treatment, I chose to hand-letter it in Procreate as I felt that the Welcome to Silent Hill sign was such a powerful symbol in the film and should be used as an element in the illustration.

The Texas
Chain Saw Massacre

Personal project, 2019

For this poster, I wanted to create an image that felt like the film. Gritty, off-kilter, and a bit oppressive. The grittiness comes in with how I chose to shade Leatherface, the skewed horizon line brings in the uneasy feeling, and I restricted myself to a monochromatic color pallet to really make the piece feel like it captured the oppressive Texas heat.

For the title treatment, I wanted to choose a typeface that had a vintage aesthetic but still modern, and I incorporated it into the artwork by having the tie of the central figure overlap it.

Scream

Personal project, 2021

I had been seeing a lot of Scream alternate artwork when I created this. A lot of them drew the main character in a way that was more appealing to male audiences and the character is the antithesis of that notion. I chose to recreate a scene in the film where she’s dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt, but gave her a few tools to show that she was ready to fight.

In a nod to one of the films that inspired Scream, I chose to go with the black and white color pallet to be self-referential, like the film itself.
